Mandalas

Return

THE BASIC LAYOUT:

The Mandala starts out with Empty Space. But Space is not really empty, it is full of energy in its potential form. From that potential energy in space, comes a circle of Wind, or motion. From this motion, energy is created which is the Fire element which is pictured as a triangle on top of the semi-circle of the wind. The point of the triangle is pointing away from us. From the mixture of the Wind element and the Fire element, water is condensed. This appears as a circle of the Water Element appearing on top of the triangle of the Fire Element. After this, a circle of Earth is created by the compression of the Water Element. It is in this way that the land is created to form the base of the Mandala.

Around the edge of the Mandala there is often a circle of flames. These help to keep negative influences outside the mandala. At the edge of the Earth, is a fence composed of interlocking Vajras. Vajras are thunderbolts that are made out of diamond, the hardest substance on earth. This also helps to keep negative forces out. The Mandala is also covered by a Vajra tent so that, even from above the Mandala, nothing undesireable can enter.

Now we will switch to the centre of the Mandala and describe it working from the centre outward.
